Breaking: Rowlands Pharmacy joins PAGB as retailer regulatory member

Rowlands Pharmacy has joined the Proprietary Association of Great Britain as a retailer regulatory member.

Rowlands’ superintendent pharmacist Stephen Thomas said the pharmacy chain joined the consumer healthcare association to “strengthen” Rowlands’ “governance and contribute to shaping policy that supports responsible self-care and access to medicines” as its sister company Numark expands its range of products.

Numark supplies over 6,000 independent member pharmacies as well as Rowlands branches with products under the Numark brand. The PAGB represents manufacturers of branded over-the-counter medicines, self-care medical devices and food supplements.

“As this portfolio continues to grow, and with the regulatory landscape for medicines and self-care evolving, joining PAGB represents an important step,” Thomas said.

PAGB CEO Michelle Riddalls said: “We’re delighted to welcome Rowlands into PAGB membership. They bring a real history of trusted pharmacy expertise and an established presence across the UK. We look forward to working with Rowlands to support them within the consumer healthcare sector.”

Rowlands, which has more than 300 pharmacies in the UK, follows Boots, Holland and Barrett, M&S, Sainsbury's and Superdrug in joining the PAGB.
